The Vauban towers of La Hougue were built from 1694 after the battle of the Hougue and the destruction of twelve vessels by the English. Their construction was entrusted to Benjamin de Combe, a student of the famous architect and engineer of Louis the sixteenth, Vauban. They have been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2008.
